![]() If it wasn't for the carry-alls and subterranean APCs it would be the same 'tank' spamming game as the rest of them are. It feels like an 80's synthwave/doom and dread trip before the 80's nostalgia really took off like today.Īs for the balance I can't say too much worse then the other westwood titles. (Probably why the devs for C&C3 removed most of it!) I'm a big fan of it personally even if these days most of my TS experience is from the mods like The Second Tiberium War. Yeah the technology really went there with TS which some people love and others find is kinda realistically silly. Not every C&C is for everyone and personally nostalgia is what keeps me playing the series again and again in the modern day. Perhaps a video of one of your attempts could help give an idea of what's going on. If missions are consistently turning into slogs though, there might be something wrong with your approach to the mission. There absolutely are cheese strategies in this game like disruptor drops and cyborg commando sub APC sneaks, but if you're playing singleplayer you can simply choose not to employ such tactics. I can assure you however that the missions, while being some of the most challenging in the series, are tough but fair, and every challenge is surmountable. Disk throwers for instance are a great example of a unit that would be quite useful if they could consistently hit their targets and wouldn't trigger a chain reaction killing your entire infantry force in 2 frames if a single one dies. That said, I do agree that some of the unit designs are frustrating and balance can feel a little off at times. If the drab, semi-apocalyptic setting is not to your taste, your opinion will likely vary drastically here because that atmosphere is absolutely central to the story. Default settings(without TS-ddraw) have one advantage - game input is more responsive, especially scrolling, that's why I would recommend using it in multi-player.Story-wise, in my personal opinion TS is one of, if not the, best in the series. I am going to use it in single-player for silky smooth visuals. These problems are eliminated using TS-ddraw(which is also running game at 60hz without registry fix). Also when game camera is moving in a scripted event(such as first GDI mission start), I can notice frame stuttering which stops after event is over. Except in movies, there is a slight tearing in some parts, but much less pronounced than before. After forcing it to 60hz globally, I notice no tearing. I have managed to fix it by forcing refresh rate with this trick(DirectX Refresh Rate Override):Īpparently my game was running at 75hz vertical refresh rate(I've had same problem with other DirectDraw games, like Diablo 2 or Baldur's Gate, my monitor doesn't handle 75hz well). There is screen tearing in game and movies(at 800圆00) after applying your patch and using default settings. The issue can be caused by the unofficial The First Decade Patch, some missions will not be playable anymore if you install TSpatch and the unofficial The First Decade patch into the same game folder.
